The issue “How to appear on Google?” has been taking up more and more space in businesses; after all, having a good ranking in the world’s biggest online search engine is almost a need for using digital marketing.
The answer to this question is no mystery — it may even be simpler than many people imagine: one of the main ways to appear on Google is through SEO!
Why appear on Google?
In everyday life, when you have any questions, one of the first things you do is turn to Google to find a quick answer. Right?
With more than 99 thousand searches carried out per second on the platform, Google is today the most used online search engine on the Internet.
This makes your results also a great opportunity to be found by potential customers. However, with more than 130 trillion pages indexed, getting to them requires some requirements.
One of them is a good placement in search results. I say this especially because users tend to only access the first 3 links — and this frequency of access decreases with each placement!
In other words: being among the first ranked in a search can improve the results of your business as a whole.
So, what should you do to achieve good positions?
How to appear on Google?
Understand how Google works
Google shows two types of results for searches: paid and organic.
Paid results are links that are at the top of search pages, placed in the first positions through Google Ads, and, therefore, are always marked as “advertisements”.
Since they depend on constant investment to be in a good position, paid results are not always the best option!
Depending on the context, another safer (and longer-lasting) option is organic results.
Unlike ads, they gain positions naturally by offering valuable content and respectful SEO.
Being in a good organic position guarantees not only more visitors to your pages but also greater authority for your business, which becomes seen as a reference in the researched subject — which takes us to the next step:
Produce good content
Creating quality content is the key to ensuring great results for the company!
This is because a “ ripple effect ” occurs: it keeps visitors on the site for longer, improves positioning in organic results, gains its own audience, encourages relationships… Believe me, Google is keeping an eye on all of this!
And, to attract people’s attention. I can tell you that it is essential to choose an intriguing title, which contains the main keyword that will work and which summarizes what will be delivered in the content.
As well as the selection of images to illustrate what is being said and the appropriate language for each audience segment — all to facilitate understanding and produce content that is, in fact, of interest to them.
Have an optimized website
Another major requirement that helps you rank on the first page of Google is having a secure and optimized website.
This includes issues such as protecting user data, fast page loading, and responsiveness to different devices. Which are essential for being indexed by the search engine.
In fact, loading is such an important point that Google itself offers a free tool to test how your website is performing: PageSpeed Insights.
Invest in SEO
Last but not least: invest in SEO!
Influenced by all the items I mentioned above and some other practices, so that you understand everything you need, I will talk exclusively about it below:
What is SEO?
SEO, or Search Engine Optimization, is nothing more than the strategy that makes companies position themselves in the first results of search engines — especially Google.
Through it, it is possible to make a website’s pages more friendly to the famous algorithms and, of course, to users. This happens in two ways:
- SEO On Page: optimizations made within the website itself, such as its loading speed, use of keywords, insertion of internal links… even the organization of information within the pages;
- Off Page SEO: actions carried out outside the website, such as partnerships including your links on other websites — also called backlinks —, citations of your content, mentions of your brand, etc.
It was using SEO techniques that Orgânica managed to position more than 600 keywords among the first three search results on Google. Which has already generated more than 2 million organic visits to our website!
How to create an SEO strategy?
The first step to creating an SEO strategy is to analyze your domain and competitors to find out your performance in search engines and find opportunities for improvement.
With this in hand, search for keywords, always keeping in mind how your customers search for the solutions they are looking for.
How do I know if my SEO strategy is yielding results?
As important as putting SEO into practice is measuring your results!
To do this, choose and monitor the KPIs that make the most sense for your goals. Such as organic website traffic, the number of backlinks, or the number of keywords ranked on Google.
To help you measure these KPIs, I selected some tools that may be useful!
Organic traffic growth
Google Analytics is a great choice for checking organic traffic. As it brings data straight from the platform. It shows which channels are serving as a source of traffic to the website, the pages that receive the most visitors, details by time of day, type of device, country…
Another great option is the Semrush tool, which also offers the search volume of the keywords you intend to work on, their variations, the positioning for each one, etc.
As the SEO strategy begins to produce effective results in the medium and long term. The increase in organic traffic is an excellent indicator that things are going as expected. See our own growth over the years:
Number of keywords indexed
Semrush also appears here as a tool option to measure your indexed keywords. But, if you prefer to have a second option, I recommend Ubersuggest.
This data is important because it shows how your content is being received by Google. The logic is as follows. The more keywords you can index. The more authority your domain will have the greater the chance of ranking among the top positions!
Increasing Domain Authority
Again, Semrush and Ubersuggest appear here, but now as tools capable of measuring a website’s domain authority.
This data is essential to know how your online reputation is doing. If it doesn’t grow as your SEO strategy is put into practice, stay alert!
